Celebrate Biodiversity Day 2026 with Jiva carries the theme “Explore, Create, Act for Biodiversity”
Jakarta, 23 May 2026 — Jiva Catalyst Foundation hosted “Celebrate Biodiversity Day 2026 with Jiva” at Ragunan Zoo, Jakarta, on Saturday, 23 May 2026, in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity.
The event brought together 65 selected participants and was supported by 35 committee members and volunteers. It aimed to promote biodiversity awareness and sustainable lifestyles through interactive and educational activities.
Carrying the theme “Explore, Create, Act for Biodiversity,” the event featured a series of activities, including wildlife observation, a mini conservation talk, the “Trash Into Tiny Garden” upcycling workshop, a sustainable eco picnic, an eco pledge session, and a collective clean-up activity.
During the upcycling workshop, participants transformed more than 100 used plastic bottles into succulent plant pots. The succulent plants were provided by the committee and taken home by participants as a simple reminder of sustainable living and creative reuse practices.
Founder of Jiva Catalyst Foundation, Maya Lynn, explained that the event was designed as a space for young people and communities to reconnect with nature while showing that small actions can create positive environmental impact.
“Through Celebrate Biodiversity Day 2026 with Jiva, we want to show that caring for the environment can be fun, creative, and collaborative,” said Maya Lynn.
Jiva Catalyst Foundation is an organization focused on education, environment, and social impact, with programs and collaborations across the ASEAN region. The foundation supports sustainable development initiatives through education, community empowerment, environmental and social programs, as well as scholarship opportunities for young people.
Jiva Catalyst Foundation was officially launched on Earth Day, 25 April 2026, through a 1,000-tree planting initiative in Parung Panjang, Bogor, Indonesia.
Through this event, Jiva Catalyst Foundation hopes to encourage more young people to take part in environmental action and make biodiversity awareness part of everyday life.
