Bogor, August 8, 2026 — In commemoration of National Nature Conservation Day 2026, Jiva Catalyst Foundation successfully hosted an educational and conservation action event titled “Seed to Forest: Conservation in Action” on Friday, August 7, 2026. Held at the Rumpin Modern Nursery in Bogor Regency, West Java, the event was organized in close coordination and collaboration with Ms. Marlina Hutubessy, S.Hut., representing the management of Rumpin Modern Nursery under the Citarum Ciliwung Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS Citarum Ciliwung).
Officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo alongside the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan) on June 10, 2022, Rumpin Modern Nursery spans a total area of 128 hectares with a production capacity of approximately 16 million seedlings per year, serving as a landmark facility for national forest rehabilitation.
A total of 50 participants, comprising youth, university students, and young professionals from across the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), actively participated in the program. Departing from conventional event structures, Seed to Forest 2026 introduced a new approach: Action-Based Participants. Under this concept, attendees did not merely act as passive audience members; instead, they took on active roles as drivers of conservation action with specific contributions categorized into three key roles:
- Content Participants: Served as the ‘voice’ of the conservation movement, documenting and packaging forest conservation messages into educational visual content for public dissemination.
- Design Participants: Developed visual materials and designed post-event publication assets to ensure the long-term impact and message of the conservation action extended beyond the event itself.
- Logistics Participants: Worked directly alongside the Jiva Catalyst Foundation operations team to manage equipment and operational needs, ensuring seamless event execution.
Participants registered under the VIP Pass track retained all promised facilities and privileges, while those from the former volunteer track were fully integrated into event operations through these designated active roles.
The itinerary began with a group departure from the Cisauk Station meeting point to Rumpin Modern Nursery. Upon arrival, participants attended a mini talkshow and educational session on forest rehabilitation management and modern nursery techniques, followed by a guided nursery tour. The tour covered key facilities, including the Production House, Germination House, Nursery House, Open Area, as well as the surrounding water pond and river areas.
The highlight of Seed to Forest 2026 was the hands-on field practice, where all participants actively engaged in polybag filling and seedling transplanting techniques. Through this direct experience, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the vital initial stage of conservation, learning that well-managed seedling cultivation is the cornerstone of successful future forest restoration and rehabilitation.
Through Seed to Forest: Conservation in Action, Jiva Catalyst Foundation aims to continually strengthen environmental literacy among youth and foster enduring collaborative networks among the public, grassroots communities, and government institutions to preserve Indonesia’s forest ecosystems.
